Ferris Wins Some Battles, But Western Wins The War

BIG RAPIDS - The Ferris State University ice hockey team had some statistical advantages on the score sheet, but the biggest advantage was enjoyed by Western Michigan. The Broncos won the Central Collegiate Hockey Association game by a score of 2-1.

A look at the numbers:
  • Ferris outshot Western 39-31
  • Both teams were 0-5 on the power play
  • Ferris had six penalties for 12 minutes while Western had five penalties for 10 minutes
  • FSU goaltender Pat Nagle faced 31 shots and stopped 29 of them
  • WMU goaltender Riley Gill, who was the player of the game, stopped 38 of 39 shots he faced
  • The Bulldogs outshot the Broncos 14-6 in the third period
  • The teams were tied for shots in the first period (12-12) and the second period (13-13)
  • Attendance for the game, even with the students finishing winter break, was 1,084
The Broncos improve to 4-12-5 overall and 3-8-4-1 in the CCHA standings while the Bulldogs fall to 9-10-4 overall and 6-7-2-0 in the CCHA.
