BIG RAPIDS - Grand Valley picked up its shooting proficiency late in the first half and finished the initial 20 minutes shooting 48.4 percent from the floor in Jim Wink Arena.
Kara Crawford got off to a hot start in the game and finished the half with 14 points while Emma Veach finished the first half strong for a total of 12 points. Both players hit a pair of triples.
The Bulldogs, in spite of shooting only 37.1 percent from the floor, hung tough with the Bulldogs thanks to nine points off the bench from freshman guard Kelsey DeNoyelles. The Mount Pleasant native had a strong performance during the earlier meeting this season between Ferris and GVSU and is continuing that strong play. DeNoyelles connected on 3-of-5 shots from outside the 3-point arc for nine points.
Also for the Bulldogs, Chelsea Simonetti had a nice first half with eight points and four assists in a starting role for the team at point guard. Caitlin Hutchison turned in a nice first half with seven points.
