Ferris Grad Don Perne Featured In Toledo Blade Story

Don Perne, a former head professional at Inverness Club, and the late Tom Wolf have been named 2009 inductees into the Toledo Golf Hall of Fame. They will be honored at ceremonies Oct. 14 held in conjunction with the Toledo District Golf Association's annual Hall of Fame Tournament at Toledo Country Club.

Wolf, who died earlier this year after battling cancer, was a top administrator for amateur golf in the Toledo area, primarily through the Toledo Metro Golf Association. He directed the organization's top events, including the S.P. Jermain match play championship, the Toledo Amateur, and the TMGA Fall Classic.

Wolf, an educator who served as dean of the School of Business at Lourdes College, was honored in 2000 as recipient of the Burt Silverman Award for his dedication to the game.
Perne, one of the first club pros in the nation to earn Master Professional status, worked at several prominent clubs, including Inverness from 1981-93. He is the founder of the Golf Management Program at Ferris State (Mich.) University, which is considered among the top models for professional training and enhancement in the golf industry.
