The 2009-10 Ferris State University men's ice hockey team, which is currently ranked a season-best sixth in the nation, will host the second-ranked Miami (Ohio) RedHawks this weekend (Jan. 15-16) as this key two-game Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) series represents a battle for sole possession of first place in the league standings.
The two CCHA co-leaders will square off this Friday (Jan. 15) at 7:05 p.m. (EST) in the series opener before wrapping up the two-game set on Saturday (Jan. 16) with a 5:05 p.m. (EST) opening faceoff. The Bulldogs won a pair of league shootouts earlier this season (Nov. 13-14) on Miami's home ice following back-to-back overtime decisions versus then nationally number-one ranked RedHawks.
The Ferris State Athletics Department is making those fans wishing to attend one of these exciting 2009-10 Bulldog hockey regular-season contest more affordable with the "Home Stretch Special" ticket package for the team's remaining seven regular-season games. The "Home Stretch Special" is as follows: General Public -- Save $20 and get the last seven regular-season games for $72 and Students - Get the remaining seven regular-season home games (including Michigan and Michigan State) for $37. Both Ferris State (16-4-2 overall; 10-2-2-2 CCHA) and Miami (13-4-5 overall; 10-1-3-1 CCHA) are presently tied for first place in the CCHA with 34 league points apiece. The last time Ferris State was ranked this high nationally was back in the 2002-03 season when the Bulldogs won the CCHA regular-season championship title en route to making their first-ever NCAA Division I Tournament appearance.
