Festival Of The Arts: M.L. Liebler and the Detroit Legacy - A Performance of Poetry and Jazz

Date: Thursday, Feb. 11
Time:
8 p.m.
Location:
Pepper's Café and Deli, 121 N. Michigan Avenue

Nationally and internationally known and widely traveled populist poet, performance poet, workshop facilitator and arts activist, M. L. Liebler & The Magic Poetry Band is the brainchild of Wayne State University professor M.L. Liebler. For more than 20 years, Liebler has combined his insightful, urban poetry with the funky tones of modern jazz, resulting in a perfect elision of sound and vision. Performing with Liebler are Griot Galaxy saxophonist Faruq Z. Bey, Detroit's CJQ, The Woolies, Detroit Artist Workshop guitarist Ron English, road-tested bass player and album producer Jef Reynolds (Leslie Gore band, Alex Chilton, Fats Domino, The Platters and others), and resident drummer and gamesman Bill Hulet.

This event is one of the 2010 Ferris State University Writer's Week events.

Admission is free of charge.
