Police Memorial Ceremony Set For May 11

BIG RAPIDS - In what has become tradition at Ferris State University, the community is invited to campus for the seventh annual Police Memorial Ceremony of Central West Michigan, Tuesday May 11, to pay respect and tribute to those officers who have given the ultimate sacrifice.

The event begins at 9 a.m. outside of the University library, FLITE. This Police Memorial Ceremony of Central West Michigan is free and open to the public. For information, contact the Ferris Police at (231) 591-5000.

The Police Memorial Ceremony of Central West Michigan includes:
  • Honor Guard
  • Police Bagpipes
  • 21 Gun Salute and Taps
  • Remembering our Fallen Heroes
  • K-9 Protector and Riderless Mount
  • Helicopter Flyover by U.S. Coast Guard or Michigan State Police (pending availability)
  • Solemnity of the Moment by Police Chaplain
  • Lowering of the Flag and Laying of the Wreath
  • Opportunity for the public to visit with Police Officers
  • Irish Prayer sung by the choir of BR Middle School
  • Police Formation of Local, County, State and Federal Officers.
