Don't Miss Hairspray ... Performances Are Scheduled For This Weekend At Ferris

Welcome to the '60s! It's time to let your hair down and dance the night away! Hairspray, the musical comedy phenomenon, piled bouffant-high with laughter and romance, will be performed at G. Mennen William’s Auditorium on the Ferris State University campus.

This production will be performed by a talented mix of the students involved in theatre at Ferris. FSU Theatre provides an opportunity for students to expand their experiences while complementing their major programs.

Show times are November 4, 5, 6 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 7 at 2:30 p.m.

It's 1962, and teen Tracy Turnblad, a big girl with big hair and an even bigger heart, has only one desire—to dance on the popular "Corny Collins Show." When her dream comes true, Tracy is transformed from social outcast ...to sudden star. But can a plus-size trendsetter vanquish the program's reigning princess, win the affections of heartthrob Link Larkin, and integrate a television show without denting her 'do? Only in Hairspray!

The musical comedy Hairspray is based on the 1988 New Line Cinema film created by John Waters. The musical version of Hairspray won eight Tony Awards, including ‘Best Musical’ during a six-year Broadway run. More recently a 2007 movie version of the musical starred big-name actors including John Travolta, Christopher Walken, Amanda Bynes, Queen Latifah and Zac Efron.

Student tickets are $4, $6 for seniors and $8 for adults. If you need assistance to attend this event please call (231) 591-5600 24 hours in advance.
