Here are ways that you can be involved in the 2011 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration.
MLK ESSAY CONTEST
You may submit a typed, 500-word essay on the topic: “Dr. King's Influence On Me To Be a Leader?” Winners will be recognized at the 2011 MLK Student Tribute. Submit your essay by email to Michael Wade at email@example.com by Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2010.
MLK POSTERBOARD CONTEST
You/Your RSO can submit a Posterboard on the topic: “How Are You/Your RSO Taking Action to Fullfill DR. King's Dream?” Displays should be 36x48 size, display-style posterboard. The top posterboards will be recognized at the 2011 Annual MLK Student Tribute and featured in the 2011 Room of Action Exhibit! Submit to the OMSS office in FLITE 159 by Wednesday, Nov. 23.
MLK STUDENT TRIBUTE
Your RSO can be apart of the annual Student Tribute to celebrate the life of Dr. King. Only those attending rehearsals and approved presentations will present at the 2011 MLK Student Tribute. *Weekly rehearsals will take place in the OMSS office in FLITE 159 on Thursdays at 5 p.m. until Dec. 10. If your RSO is interested please attend starting Thursday, Nov. 11 at 5 p.m. in FLITE 159.
MLK LEGACY AWARD
The Legacy Award is one of Ferris' highest student honors and is presented to a student or a registered student organization that exemplifies leadership and service while demonstrating a commitment to social responsibility in the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. ONLY FSU FACULTY/STAFF may nominate you/your RSO. FSU Faculty/Staff should send a profile of the student/RSO with their accomplishments to Michael Wade at firstname.lastname@example.org by Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2010.
*Nominees will be reviewed by the 2011 MLK Planning Committee and winners recognized at the 2011 Annual MLK Student Tribute.
MLK TUNNEL OF OPPRESSION EXHIBIT IMAGES
You/Your RSO can collect images of oppression from “Poverty” to “Hate Crimes” to be displayed during the 2011 MLK Celebration in the Tunnel of Oppression exhibit. Save your images on a CD or flashdrive and submit to the OMSS office in FLITE 159 by Wednesday, Nov. 23.
