A Picture is Worth 1000 Words: Document Design Basics

Ferris State University's Caroline Stern will share her current research - "A Picture is Worth 1000 Words: Document Design Basics" on Thursday, Nov. 4, at 11 a.m. in Starr 130.

A statement from Professor Stern:

“The thoughtful integration of text balanced with graphics and selection of font design can maximize how people ‘read,’ understand, and apply a message in the appropriate medium—be it paper or digital. Research shows that most people scan rather than read text and that we are no longer looking at information in a linear, left-to-right pattern, but rather focusing on ‘hot zones’ of information. The average person gives a web page 15 seconds to download and send the prime message of the site.”

Faculty, students, and interested others are invited to join us for an informative, insightful, useful presentation. If you have not previously heard Professor Stern speak, you owe it to yourself to share a delightful 50 minutes.

Light refreshments provided.
