From the President's Desk: A Welcome Back To Ferris Students

Here is a note from the desk of Ferris State University president David L. Eisler as Ferris welcomes back students, faculty and staff for the start of the Spring 2011 semester:
Welcome back for spring semester.

With record enrollment, new construction and major renovation projects, our campuses were hubs of remarkable activity this past fall.

I hope the holiday break provided you an opportunity for relaxation with family and friends. Together we can prepare for the new challenges and opportunities ahead for spring semester.

During 2010 many of my University-wide messages touched upon the difficult economic situation in the state.

While Michigan still has a long way to go to regain its economic footing, 2011 begins with at least some encouraging signs. Unemployment figures for November declined, and domestic auto makers have reported increased sales.

Both as members of our University community and as Michigan citizens, we can look to 2011 with some long-awaited optimism.
