Welding for Artists (Feb. 1)


Ferris State University welcomes all non-experienced artists and hobbyists for a day of welding.

On Tuesday, Feb. 1 between 6 to 9 p.m. a series of three classes will be hosted by the Welding Program.
Classes will be taught in the Welding Lab of the Swan Building in Room 116.

Participants will be shown proper techniques and be allowed to develop their own simple metal sculptures. Processes will include Oxy Acetylene Welding, Gas Metal Arc Welding, Resistance Welding and Plasma Arc Cutting.

Instructor will be David Murray, an associate professor in the Welding Engineering Technology department at Ferris.
Class size is limited to 20 participants. Pre-register by calling Artworks at: (231) 796- 2420.

The only cost to participants will be safety equipment that will become the property of each participant. These will be available at the fist class for a cost of approximately $30.

This activity is sponsored by the Festival of the Arts Planning Committee. All materials and supplies will are donated by Ferris’ Welding Engineering Technology department.
