Ferris State Live Hosts Welcome Guests To Discuss Ferris Magazine, Michelle Obama Initiative


Ferris State University Communications Officer Marc Sheehan, editor of Ferris Magazine, explains the evolution and purpose of the university-wide publication and FSU student Sylvia Moore discusses the “Bring Michelle Obama to Ferris Campaign” with Jason DaDay and Leah Nixon.

Finally, Sandy Gholston joins Jason to discuss the 131 Showdown at Van Andel Arena and events from the Festival of the Arts.

Wirgau To Speak At Macomb Community College About Ferris Doctorate In Community College Leadership Program

Ferris State University's Doctorate in Community College Leadership is drawing interest and school officials are happy to discuss it.

Andie Wirgau, coordinator of the DCCL program, will be speaking as part of an informational session about the program at Macomb Community College on Tuesday, Feb. 15.

"Turtles Can Fly" (Feb. 25)


Ferris State University hosts, Foreign Film Four "Turtles Can Fly."
The film will be held in the Interdisciplinary Resource Center (IRC) Room 120 on Friday, Feb. 25 at 7 p.m.
The film takes place near the Iraqi-Turkish border on the eve of the American invasion, refugee children are preoccupied with staying alive, with little or no help from adults, in a world that has no place for them and seems not to care or be aware of their existence.
Admission is FREE sponsored by the Festival of the Arts Planning Committee.

Hockey Hosts Notre Dame on Feb. 19

Ferris State University will take on Notre Dame Saturday, Feb. 19.

The game will be held in Ewigleben Ice Arena from 7:05 to 9:30 p.m.

Ferris State Hockey Reunion Weekend for classes of 1979-89 will be introduced during intermission.

Photography Contest

Showcase your snapshots in the local photography contest at Yeoman Photography for the Festival of the Arts.

Submit your work by Feb. 10 to Yeoman Photography 225 S. Michigan Ave. Suite B, Big Rapids for your chance to win prizes.

Photos may be apart of the following three categories:

1. People/Portraits
2. The Great Outdoors/Nature
3. Pets/Animals

Yeoman Photography’s Matt Yeoman and Ferris State University photographer Bill Bitzinger will award first, second and third place winners, as well as give participants an opportunity to receive feedback on submitted work.

First, second and third place winners will receive a cash prize and a gift card to The Back Room Framing Center.

Displays of all submitted work and winning photos will be held from Feb. 14 through March 5 at Yeoman Photography.

How to Plan an Event

Discover what it takes to plan a spectacular occasion.

The Ferris State University workshop “How to Plan an Event” will be held Feb. 15 in the Rankin Center 155. It will be held from 11 to 11:50 a.m.

This workshop will reflect on what it takes to be a successful event planner. Participants will be shown ways to organize their event planning process through effective communication. The skills and responsibilities of an event manager will also be discussed.

The presentation will also touch on the proper ways for students to form their own successful event on campus. This workshop is put on by Student Leadership and Activities.
