Five-Star Speaker Ester: “The Reason You’re Here”

BIG RAPIDS – Discover your skills and interests and use them as a basis for a fulfilling career through a presentation from comedian Michael Dean Ester as he presents, “The Reason You’re Here.”

Ester’s goal is to help young adults arrive at the true meaning of success and demonstrate how a college education can help define success. “The Reason You’re Here” takes place on Tuesday, April 19 from 7 to 8 p.m. in Williams Auditorium. Ester’s presentation strives to help students view college as a gateway to a rewarding career.

“Those who are passionate about their work are the richest people indeed because they don’t really work at all,” Ester said.

Assistant Director of Student Leadership and Activities Allissa Witucki believes students should attend because Ester is an entertaining and inspirational speaker.

“There is a fun and entertaining way about him with a comedic edge,” Witucki said. “His main focus is to allow people to be successful and love what they do, and we would like to get the word out about that focus.”

She believes the timing of Ester’s presentation is important.

“Heading into exams most students begin to wonder ‘why did I come to college’, the focus of this event is to get people amped for exams and to understand where he is coming from,” Witucki said.

Ester has spoken with thousands of students who confess to having no clue whatsoever what they’re doing there. Ferris officials hope that Ester’s presentation is the clue that solves the puzzle for students.

Ester was nominated “Comedian of the Year” by the National Association for College Activities. He was named “Performer of the Year” by the Association for the Promotion of Campus Activities and named the “Best Male Performer” by Campus Activities Magazine.

This event is free through student activity fees and Entertainment Unlimited.
