As is fitting at the time of a milestone anniversary, all full-time faculty and staff in FLITE spent the fall semester conducting an internal core review to reflect on what has changed over the past 10 years, evaluate the current state of FLITE, determine trends and best practices at peer libraries, and make recommendations to Fritz Erickson, provost and vice president for Academic Affairs, for the next decade of library services at Ferris.
Although a full implementation plan is still in development, there are many changes and enhancements in services that are already underway, particularly regarding collections and space.
Some of our goals are to:
- move the most heavily used collections into the most visible spaces
- unite the bound periodicals that are currently split in multiple locations
- prune the reference and circulating collections of out-of-date and out-of-scope materials
- free up some small rooms to be re-purposed as additional group study spaces for students.
