Annual Campus Clean Up with Delta Sigma Theta, Sorority Inc.
Delta Sigma Theta, Sorority Inc., Zeta Rho Chapter is giving back to the Ferris State community with their annual Campus Clean Up community service event on March 24.
“We feel it is important to service our community. With service being one of the main principles of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., we hope to implement this by keeping the campus groomed and cleaned,” said Shaprese Smith, Community Service and Social Action Chair.
This community service act will begin in the North Quad and will spread throughout campus and into the city of Big Rapids. Participants are able to earn up to two hours of community service.
The Campus Clean Up will start at 12p.m. and run through 2p.m.
“Our Campus Clean Up events have always been very successful, we have even gone throughout the Big Rapids community and cleaned up, including our city's Hemlock Park,” said Smith.
This is a great way for students to give back to the University and city they attend school in.
The Zeta Rho Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta, Sorority Inc. also host a number of other community service events, such as their Study Tables, which meet twice a month.
Participants of the Study Tables are able to receive up to three community service hours while being scholarly.
“Our primary goal at Ferris State University is to impact our campus and surrounding community with programs and initiatives that create awareness, action, and involvement towards different causes,” said Smith. “For over 40 years, the Zeta Rho Chapter has been honored to serve the Big Rapids community. We appreciate all of the support from students, faculty, staff, and community members.”
