Ferris Graduate Showcasing Credentials At Job Fair, As Reported By Grand Rapids Press

Ferris State University graduate Tamika Cooper, of Grand Rapids, earned a degree in Criminal Justice. She was eager to showcase her credentials and talents at the Grand Rapids Community College Job Fair in the Applied Technology Center, as reported by the Grand Rapids Press.

She has plans to attend Cooley Law School next year. In the interim, however, she is job seeking.

Ferris State Student Awarded Scholarship at Purdue University

Survey Engineering student, Megan M. Miller receives a full ride scholarship award to attend Purdue University.
Miller is a senior in the Surveying Engineering program and has been awarded the Ross Fellowship award from the School of Civil Engineering, Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. 
This is a highly competitive and prestigious award. 
The award package includes a stipend, tuition scholarship and medical insurance supplement for four years of study toward the Doctor of Philosophy degree in Geomatics Engineering.
Miller is among two other students within the Surveying Engineering program to receive this award, Joel East and Chad Sonderegger.
Ferris State University has a long standing relationship with Purdue University that extends more than 15 years, with over twenty Surveying Engineering graduates that have been awarded master’s degrees. Three of those graduates are now pursuing PhD’s at The Ohio State University and George Mason University.     
The Ferris State University Surveying Engineering program would like to congratulate Megan Miller along with other graduates of the program who have been elected to continue their educations by obtaining graduate degrees.

2012 Hospitality Gala: An Evening at the Emerald Isle

An Evening at the Emerald Isle is the theme for the 2012 Hospitality Gala on March 23, at 5:30 p.m. in the Big Rapids Holiday Inn. 
Hospitality Gala 2012This is the 21st Annual Hospitality Gala, which is put on by a selected student committee each year. Tickets are $75, which includes admission, a five course dinner, and entertainment.
“The types of activities attendees should expect to see at the Gala is a live and silent auction, hear from guest speaker Ireland Chef Edward Hayden, Irish dancers, cocktail hour, and live Twitter feeds,” said Kimberly Outinen, Hospitality Gala Committee Member. 
Guest speaker and Ireland Chef, Edward Hayden has contributed a host of involvements to the culinary field, such as having a column in the Sunday World, published recipes in the Sunday Tribune, Irish Independent and RTE Guide, and has a regular cookery slot on TV3’s Ireland AM.
Students, faculty, and staff are invited to attend and experience the elegance of this evening. 
“This is a really great event to attend. This Gala has opened up many networking opportunities for me, such as helping me get a summer internship, and I have learned a lot about marketing that I didn’t know before,” said Outinen.
A silent auction will take place at the event with donated items from local businesses.
