Blood Drive and Bone Marrow Drive to take place in November

Phi Lambda Sigma, the Pharmacy Leadership Society, will be hosting a Blood Drive and Bone Marrow Drive through "Be The Match of Michigan Blood."

The drive will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 20 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the West Campus Community Center located at 1414 Family Drive on the Big Rapids Campus.

Michigan Blood is an independent, nonprofit blood bank that provides blood for more than 40 hospitals throughout Michigan.

There will be a sign up table on Tuesday, Oct. 29 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Interdisciplinary Resource Center to make an appointment. The entire blood donation process will take about 1 hour.

Coupons for free pizza will be given out at the drive to those who donate blood.

For the Bone Marrow Drive, any individual that would like to sign up to be a donor will undergo a simple cheek saw to obtain their DNA profile and be added to the database for bone marrow donors. Registering to become a bone marrow donor is free.
